Gordon Eric Knowles became the fourth sitting President of the Miami Dade Chamber of Commerce, serving for the past eleven years. Increasing the Chamber’s annual revenue from six hundred thousand dollars to now over one million and membership from two hundred and fifty to over five hundred members.
Graduating from Miami Dade College and Florida International University President Knowles served as the Business Developer for the Coconut Grove Local Development Corporation honing his skills helping small businesses in Coconut Grove, while supporting the development of affordable housing.
Director of Community Relations and Government Affairs for the now Hard Rock Stadium in 1997. President Knowles recruited by American Airlines as the Marketing Director for the Caribbean in 1999. A short-lived role due to September 11, 2001. President Knowles returned to Hard Rock Stadium, where he participated in his second World Series Championship with the then Florida Marlins in 2003. Participating in numerous Super Bowls, Orange Bowl Championships, and world-renowned concerts.
Representing the Dolphins organization, President Knowles has embedded himself in all of Miami Dade County and Broward County through his tenure as the Senior Director of Guest Services, Senior Director of Operations and Senior Director of Government and Community Relations. Overseeing the day today operations of the first three hundred million dollar renovation of Hard Rock Stadium by owner Wayne Huizenga.
A member of several non-profits that include the Great Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Beacon Council, Thelma Gibson Health Initiative, BAC, KIPP Schools to name a few. Actor, model, yoga instructor, and gardener to name a few of his interest. A member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Miami Gardens. Proud father of Erica, Catherine and Grandfather to Munzang ‘ Alu’ who resides in Cape Town South Africa with his mother Erica. Married to Dr. Latanya Benjamin, Board Certified Pediatric Dermatologist, and stepfather to Hayley.
