Dr. Steve Gallon III serves as the District 1 School Board Member for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. First elected in 2016 and re-elected unopposed in 2020 and 2024, he brings over 30 years of experience as a teacher, principal, district administrator, and superintendent. A graduate of Florida A&M University, he earned his master’s and doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration from Florida International University and completed postdoctoral leadership programs at Harvard and Stanford.

As a School Board Member, Dr. Gallon has proffered over 100 board items advancing educational reform and student success. He is also the creator and host of Real Talk with Dr. Steve Gallon III, a platform focused on education and community issues. His expertise has been featured on national outlets such as CNN and MSNBC.

Dr. Gallon’s leadership has earned numerous honors, including the 2022 Florida School Boards Association President’s Award and several recognitions in 2025 for his service and impact in Miami-Dade, among them being named a Man of Honor by the National Council of Negro Women and receiving the prestigious Garth C. Reeves Sr. Citizen of the Year Award earlier this month during the organization’s 20th annual awards celebration.
