Celebrating Black History Month

Black History Month Spotlight: Trick Daddy

This Black History Month, we honor a Miami legend who redefined the sound of Southern hip-hop and put Black Miami on the map— the unofficial Mayor of Miami, Trick Daddy. Hailing from Liberty City, Trick’s unapologetic lyrics and raw storytelling captured the struggles, resilience, and pride of our community.

With iconic hits like “I’m a Thug” and “Take It to da House”, Trick Daddy not only gave us anthems but became a voice for the streets, representing the heart and soul of Miami. Beyond his music, he’s a mentor and advocate, showing the power of turning pain into purpose and success.

As we celebrate Black History Month, we salute Trick Daddy for his contributions to music, the legacy of Black excellence, and Dade County!

Publisher's Note

As we join the nation in celebrating Black History Month, M•I•A Media Group is proud to make history of our own. We are excited to announce the permanent transition of our print publications, Legacy Miami and Legacy South Florida Magazines, to fully digital editions. In an ever-changing media landscape, we recognize the importance of staying ahead of the curve. This strategic move allows us to remain vigilant, innovative, and in tune with the times, making us one of the first publications in South Florida to embrace this evolution. As we welcome a new president and a renewed hope for unity in a divided nation, we reaffirm our commitment to what we do best: highlighting the success and achievements of South Florida’s Black community. In this issue, we honor the brilliance and contributions of Black chefs and leaders in the food industry, celebrating their innovation, resilience, and impact. We hope you enjoy this special edition, and as always, thank you for your continued support.
