Prince’s beloved film and album “Purple Rain” are headed to Broadway. Producers have announced that the stage musical will debut in 2027, bringing the legendary musician’s story and music to a new generation of theatergoers.

The musical, “Purple Rain,” will begin preview performances at New York’s Majestic Theatre on March 12, 2027, before officially opening on April 12, 2027. The announcement coincides with the 42nd anniversary of the 1984 film, which launched Prince’s acting career and became a global box office success.
