Bill is a thirty-year veteran of the nonprofit and executive management industry. From building successful development organizations to assisting NBA professional athletes, to building multimillion dollar foundations and nonprofits Bill has a knack for winning. Presently Bill is a Miam Dade County executive where he runs its largest advocacy and business development business unit that focuses on the inclusion of the black community in the economic growth of the Miami Metroplex.
Bill devotes his volunteer time to educating black children as a core to his principles. Through May 2022 Bill was the Chairman of the board of a nationally recognized charter school organization, KIPP Schools. Here he was charged with the recently completed educational centers that had a value of over $30,000,000.00 dollars. In past positions Bill and his teams have been responsible for raising over $20,000,000.00 in the past five years. Bill was the President and CEO for the Miami Dade Chamber of Commerce. The chamber was a membership-based enterprise where Bill managed a group of over 500 businesspeople that paid annual dues for membership. He perfected this process that brought in thousands in donations for events and business expos. Bill left there to assist his good friend NBA Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning where he was the CEO of the Mourning Family Foundation. Bill’s last primary focus at MFF was to cap off a $14M capital campaign in order that they may build a new youth center. Bill was also the President & CEO of The Broward Health Foundation. In this role he managed the expansive nonprofit initiatives that include capital giving campaigns and events, in hospital employee recognition programs, naming rights for real property owned by the hospital and all employee focused grant programs.
Bill is the founding President of the Beta Psi 1923 Foundation. This is the first of its kind Clark Atlanta University focused 501C3 nonprofit. It has one goal and that is to provide money to CAU for its students. In the five years since its inception, it has raised over $400,000.00 with all monies slated to CAU and its students. Every dollar it has raised is committed to the advancement of its mission and that is to help our beloved CAU. It has become the model for other fraternities to follow. We have a tacit agreement with CAU to do joint fundraising. Through this program a majority of its donors have been new donors to CAU.
Along with being an avid golfer and jazz enthusiast Bill is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. And a founder (and Past President) of The 100 Black Men of South Florida, an arm of 100 Black Men of America, Inc. He has served on the board of Directors for The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau in Miami Florida, The National Center for Family Philanthropy in Washington DC, The Alliance For Digital Equality in Atlanta Georgia and many others. He is a proud graduate of Clark College (CAU) in Atlanta Georgia where he obtained a BS degree in Political Science in 1984. Bill is originally from Augusta Georgia and is the son of Margaret and Joseph Diggs. Bill is married to CC 1988 graduate Marie Diggs. He has two children Drew and Dominique.
