GMCVB powers M•I•A Magazine’s Art of Black Miami issue showcasing Black humanitarians during Art Week

Joanne Hampstead’s Genesis 2.0 wins the 8th Annual Art of Black Cover Competition

M•I•A Magazine’s issues are distributed in the Miami Herald and Sun-Sentinel, respectively. The new issues arrive on newsstands on Sunday, November 27th, 2022 

Hollywood, Fla. (November 27, 2022) – M•I•A Media Group, LLC proudly presents its latest Art of Black issue powered by the Greater Miami Conventions and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB). The cover features artist Joanne Hampstead’s Genesis 2.0, winner of the eighth Art of Black Cover competition. This cultural magazine is the official publication record for the Art of Black Miami 2022, a curated programming schedule featuring the humanitarian contributions of Black artisans throughout the diaspora. Art of Black returns after a two-year hiatus in response to COVID-19. The issues arrive on newsstands Sunday, November 27. 

“Art of Black Miami is a part of the creative explosion showcasing the diversity of visual arts throughout Miami-Dade County,” said Russell Motley, Legacy’s Associate Publisher, and Editor-in-Chief. “Now celebrating eight years, Art of Black Miami’s schedule of events promises to offer a unique appeal and cultural aesthetic represented in exhibitions, performances, artist panel discussions, films, pop-up events, and even mural unveilings.” 

Readers will meet Joanne Hampstead, a burgeoning artist and winner of the highly competitive Art of Black Cover Competition. There is also an exciting feature on an artist whose work was inspired by a racist incident. Plus, an insightful entry about the PRIZM Art Fair. The issue includes stories highlighting the City of Opa-Locka’s Art of Black Miami exhibit, Miami MoCaAD’s Soul Basel, MOCA North Miami’s robust public programming, and other features. The issue includes an Art of Black event listing, a restaurant guide, and more.
