Hollywood, Fla. (January 28th, 2022) – M•I•A MEDIA GROUP LLC, publisher of Legacy Miami and Legacy South Florida, the premier publications for South Florida’s Black influencers and affluencers, proudly announces the release of its highly-anticipated Black History issues. The content-rich editions showcase the University of Miami’s first Black graduates and a profile of the Florida Panthers’ Brett Peterson, the first African-American assistant manager in the history of the National Hockey League. The publications, which arrive on newsstands Sunday, January 30, also introduce South Florida’s Best in Black Dining 2022 list.
“Over the last year, we have sadly lost several Black icons both locally and nationally. These American pillars broke barriers and commanded respect in film, sports, and politics,” said Russell Motley, Legacy’s Associate Publisher and Editor-in-Chief. “As we celebrate Black History Month, I encourage you to appreciate the giants among us who are making history every day.”
“While Black History Month is officially celebrated every February, you can count on Legacy
magazine to bring you stories of Black history – American history – year-round.”
The issues deliver the insights that give readers a competitive advantage in their careers, businesses, health, and lifestyles. The pages explore Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Lavine Cava’s take on how the county is providing equal opportunities for communities to thrive; Miami-Dade County School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon, III shares how education is social justice; minority business champion Beatrice Louissaint touts how Black-owned businesses are continuing to make history, and so much more. On the lifestyle front, readers can turn to a double-page feature on the upcoming South Beach Wine and Food Festival and the esteemed listing of South Florida’s Best in Black Dining 2022.
M•I•A Magazine and the Flavor of South Florida partnered to present “Best in Black Dining for 2022.” The competitive undertaking used a methodology that included soliciting nominations from the South Florida community. A panel of distinguished judges evaluated the submitted nominations, tabulated votes, and calculated the winner and runner-up. The winners were selected based on the most votes in each category and the weighted scoring from the judges.
