One of Miami’s signature furniture companies will pay $1.3 million as part of a settlement after a federal investigation into whether hiring practices favored Hispanics.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said in a statement that its investigation “found reasonable cause” that El Dorado Furniture “engaged in a companywide practice of favoring Hispanic applicants for all positions and violated federal law by failing to hire a class of black, white, and other non-Hispanic applicants from November 2022 through February 2026.”
