Rochelle Satchell, who is slightly older than her husband, doesn’t mind that she could be seen as the aggressor in their relationship.
“Cougar!’ she exclaims.
Married for 11 years, her husband, Jeffrey T. Satchell, Sr., who is in the tractor trailer and tow operator business. likes to play along.
When asked how they met, he replies,” She stalked me.” They were at an event where he says that she approached him and asked him to dance.
“I was in the corner with my lunch box and my book bag,” he alleges. The CEO and Founder of URB Marketing & Advertising Agency, disputes the stalker part but does concede she went up to him first. They talked and then talked some more and danced the night away. They discovered that they had an awful lot in common.
The both lived in the same area. They drove the same car: A convertible black Mustang. And both of their mates (who were both in the hair care industry) had asked each for a divorce. “His wife at the time was a hairdresser. My husband at the time, was a barber”.
It was simply uncanny.
They kept in touch.and at first they were just friends who connected through their joint experiences. Their relationship evolved and then they had to navigate past relationships and children and frankly the road was a bit bumpy. Sometimes they broke up and then made up.
Whenever she would try to disconnect, he posed a two word question designed to needle his way through her stomach and right back into her heart. “You hungry?” he would ask after a spat.
Yes. Yes she was.
After nine years, Rochelle threw Jeffrey for a loop. When they first met, they both expressed that they had no desire to marry again
But she changed her mind. Not only did she spring the idea of marriage on him she topped it off with a heaping request for couple’s therapy. “She switched speeds like Bruce Lee riding a Fuji in a movie,” said Jeffrey who agreed that therapy was a game changer.
After a total of 22 years they have weathered the storm and realize that the answer to life’s problems can be found solely in each other’s arms.
