Klay Thompson explains decision to give up money, join Heat: ‘The opportunity to win again’

After trading for two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason, the Miami Heat prioritized three-point shooting in building out the rest of its roster. It just so happens, one of the greatest three-point shooters in NBA history wanted to fill that need.

Legendary three-point shooting guard Klay Thompson gave up about $4 million to sign with the Heat on Sunday after recently agreeing to a buyout on his contract with the Dallas Mavericks that would have paid him $17.5 million this upcoming season.
