Perry expressed frustration and anger over Stone’s struggles, saying she had to perform out of necessity rather than choice.
“All of those years, all of those songs, all of that money that was owed to her — where is it?” he said, according to WBLS. “It’s wrong, this is wrong, and I’m tired of seeing us struggle and go through things and work hard and not reap the benefits of what we were supposed to reap.”
He also praised Stone’s impact, calling her a “prophet” whose music reflected her journey. He referenced her song No More Rain, connecting its lyrics to her life and the challenges she faced.
Stone died on March 1st after her van overturned on Interstate 65 in Mobile, Alabama. She was returning from a performance with her band, and she was the only one who died.
