Esther Rose Louis is a nationally recognized maternal health consultant, master doula trainer, and founder of Metro Mommy Agency (MMA)—an innovative maternal wellness business based in South Florida. With over a decade of experience supporting women and families through childbirth and postpartum, she is a trusted voice driving social impact in maternal and infant health.
A Miami native and Haitian-American mother of four sons, Louis brings deep insight and cultural fluency to her work, specializing in breastfeeding support, maternal mental health, and culturally responsive care. Since 2015, she has trained and mentored over 70 doulas and built collaborative partnerships with federally qualified health center and community clinics, hospitals, the University of Miami, Florida International University’s Black Mothers Care Plan of South Florida, and public health agencies.
Her signature Metro Mommy Agency methods help women prepare emotionally, mentally, and strategically for childbirth, breastfeeding, and motherhood. Through compassionate, evidence-based care from preconception to postpartum, Louis and her mentees have achieved a 16% c-section rate—lower than county, state, and national averages.
In 2022, she launched the Making Optimal Maternal Child Health Accessible (MOMCHA) program , a workforce development initiative that connects high-risk families to doula care, many using Medicaid. MOMCHA not only expands access for families in need but also mentors and connects community-based doulas to support Medicaid utilization for families to receive coverage for the vital, non-clinical maternal health services that doulas provide.
Louis is a sought-after speaker at events including the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs, March of Dimes Mom and Baby Action Network, the Flourish Media Conference, and the Black Mamas Matter Alliance’s Black Maternal Health Conference. Her work has been featured on Good Morning America, USA Today, and leading media platforms. She has received the Saltwater Fellowship from The Miami Foundation and won the StartUP FIU BizUp Pitch Competition.
Louis’ mission is to reduce disparities in maternal outcomes through collaborative navigation, community care, and inclusive, team-based birthing support. She holds certifications in doula care, HypnoBirthing education, lactation counseling, and maternal mental health, and is currently completing a community health worker certification while preparing to become a midwife. Bilingual in English and Haitian Creole, she bridges language gaps across South Florida and beyond.
As a consultant, Louis has led strategy sessions and co-created safe spaces with stakeholders to elevate community voices. Her leadership has driven community engagement in committees like the Healthy Baby Taskforce and The Jasmine Project, a federally funded Healthy Start program. She continues to advise foundations, nonprofits, healthcare institutions, and universities on designing programs that uplift maternal wellbeing. Whether teaching and creating a sense of belonging for breastfeeding mothers, developing curriculum for HIV-positive expectant mothers, or leading workshops like “What Do Doulas Do,” Louis remains rooted in her vision: to make Miami (and wherever MMA reaches globally next) the best place to give birth on Earth!
