Sheila Powell-Cohen

From cheering on the Miami Dolphins sidelines to leading high-impact civic initiatives, Shelia Powell-Cohen demonstrates intentional leadership. A proud alumna of Florida Memorial University, she leveraged her dual degrees in business administration and data processing to create a career bridging corporate strategy and community advocacy.

As Events and Special Projects Manager for the Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT), Powell-Cohen leads initiatives that generate measurable impact. Her 22-year tenure at the Miami Herald Media Company showcased her talent in marketing and technology, earning multiple Leadership Employee of the Year nominations.

Moreover, she has served on the board of the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, as a trustee of the Miami Children’s Museum Charter School, and as second vice president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA), Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter. Ebony magazine honored her as one of the “Top 10 Career-Driven NFL Cheerleaders,” and Legacy magazine named her among the “Most Influential Black Women in Business.”

As First Lady of A.M. Cohen Temple alongside her husband, Pastor Quincy Cohen, and proud mother to Florida A&M University graduate Catherine-Laci, Powell-Cohen lives her guiding philosophy: “Make each day count and bless someone today.”
