Oprah Winfrey threw shade at Broadway star Patti LuPone during the Tony Awards on Sunday.
LuPone did not attend the awards show following backlash over her comments about fellow Broadway stars including Audra McDonald and Kecia Lewis. She later apologized for her remarks. “This astounding year in live theater turns to the women whose work sparked lively conversations among theater fans,” Winfrey said, before pausing and looking at the audience. “Lot of talking going on,” she added, seemingly referring to the lyrics in Beyoncé’s song “Ameriican Requiem.”
