The community-driven fundraiser, designed to support graduating seniors from MNW, raised scholarship funds through various sports tournaments that foster school pride and alumni engagement. Thanks to increased participation from the alumni community, this year’s event aimed to fund six scholarships.
Shakedria Mathis and Kadra Adderly, co-founders of the Bulls Kick-Off Classic, expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support they received. “I have to give the class team leads their flowers—this event wouldn’t have been possible without their energy, coordination, and commitment. Reaching our fundraising goal was a true team effort,” said Mathis. “The love and support from the Mayor’s Office and the MNW Alumni Association meant so much, and supporting local Black-owned food truck vendors was the icing on top.”

Adderly added, “I am proud of the momentum we’ve built in supporting the next generation in our community — our future. Our goal is to see this scholarship opportunity grow into a legendary event, providing even larger awards for graduating seniors from our alma mater.”

The event’s goal was to raise $10,000 to support the Class of 2026, with each class encouraged to raise a minimum of $500. Through the collective effort of alumni and community members, the fundraising exceeded expectations, raising $10,055 in just five and a half weeks. This achievement was made possible by the support of local businesses, the Miami-Dade County Mayor’s Office, alumni volunteers, and the generous contributions from participating classes.
