Miami Gardens is making history as the Cloverleaf Shopping Plaza prepares for a major renovation, transforming it into the city’s first 100% Black-owned shopping plaza. The project is led by Miami Gardens Councilman Reggie Leon and award-winning rapper, entrepreneur, and Miami Gardens native, Flo Rida, who will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 1 p.m., at 230 Northwest 183rd Street, Miami Gardens, FL 33056.
The revitalization of Cloverleaf Shopping Plaza is more than just a facelift—it’s a step toward economic empowerment, business growth, and community revitalization. Once completed, the plaza will serve as a hub for Black entrepreneurship, reflecting and supporting the culture and needs of the Miami Gardens community.
In 2023, Flo Rida, under his business firm Strong Arm Management, made a $10 million investment to purchase the shopping plaza in the same neighborhood where he grew up. The 27,813-square-foot property is already fully occupied, housing businesses such as Cloverleaf Beauty Supply, Creole Kitchen, Boost Mobile, and Top Notch Cigars & Smoke Shop.
For Flo Rida, this project is about more than real estate—it’s about ownership, legacy, and opportunity. Councilman Leon shared the same sentiments.
“This is more than just a renovation—it’s a symbol of progress, ownership, and opportunity for our community. We are committed to creating a space where Black-owned businesses can thrive and where residents can come together to celebrate culture and commerce,” said Councilman Reggie Leon.
The upcoming groundbreaking ceremony is expected to bring together community leaders, entrepreneurs, and residents who are eager to witness this historic moment. Leon said he hopes this will serve as a celebration of Black economic power and a commitment to fostering generational wealth in Miami Gardens. Projects like this highlight the importance of community-driven investment in an ever-evolving city like Miami Gardens.
