McDonald’s is the latest corporate giant facing public backlash, with organizers calling for a nationwide boycott of the fast-food chain starting June 24. According to Newsweek, the weeklong protest, led by grassroots advocacy group The People’s Union USA, is part of a broader campaign the group has dubbed the “Economic Blackout Tour.”
The boycott urges Americans to avoid McDonald’s from June 24 through June 30, as part of a growing movement for “economic resistance, corporate accountability, and real justice for the working class. “The group has already targeted brands like Walmart, Target, and Amazon in earlier actions this year.
