Father’s Day may be a few months away, but Eric Clapton’s longtime bassist, Nathan East, celebrated early on Friday, April 18 with the release of Father Son, a collaborative album with his 24-year-old son, Noah, who plays piano and organ.

The elder East, who also spent time in Phil Collins’ band, was a member of platinum-selling smooth jazz group Fourplay, and co-writer of the 1985 Philip Bailey-Phil Collins hit “Easy Lover,” has also been performing in a jazz duo with his son. They played a trio of dates in Germany in March and have already been invited back for more shows in 2026.

The appropriately titled Father Son is a mostly instrumental affair, featuring guest appearances from Clapton on two tracks, legendary vocalist Merry Clayton and others. The album includes instrumental takes of such classics as “My Favorite Things,” the Beatles’ “Yesterday,” and “Over the Rainbow” as well as originals like “UTOPIANOAH.”
