Nationwide — Arelious Cooper Jr., an Atlanta native and co-founder of Art In the Paint, proudly unveils his creative direction of the Alfred “Tup” Holmes Golf Museum, the perfect tribute to an influential figure in Atlanta’s civil rights movement.

Alfred “Tup” Holmes is the reason why we have the likes of Tiger Woods and Alexis Belton today as he helped break the color barrier in golf and dedicated his life to desegregating the sport. The new museum will be a landmark in Atlanta that reminds people of courage, resilience, and the fight for equity in public spaces, all values Art In the Paint stands for.

As the Creative Director and the Curator of the museum, Cooper didn’t just want to share the remarkable story of the Holmes family — he wanted every visitor to be fully immersed in it. With careful consideration, he curated pieces of history, culture, and art that authentically depict Tup Holmes’ journey and legacy. This legacy is deeply rooted in medicine, public space desegregation, and education. Without the Holmes family, Atlanta and the US might not have a thriving Black social space, educational institutions, and certainly not one as vibrant and impactful as it is today.
