Nationwide — African American Women in Cinema (AAWIC) is thrilled to announce the 25th Annual AAWIC Film Festival, set to take place from May 15-17, 2025, at LaGuardia Community College. As one of the most celebrated female film events in the country, the AAWIC Film Festival continues to serve as a powerful platform for showcasing ambitious women filmmakers from across the nation.This year’s festival will feature a special red-carpet screening of the highly anticipated film, To Live and Die and Live, starring Skye Marshall, currently starring in CBS’s Matlock. Marshall will be honored with the prestigious 25th AAWIC Film Festival Trailblazer Award during the opening night. The film follows Muhammad, a successful Hollywood director, who returns to Detroit for his stepfather’s funeral. As he grapples with depression, addiction, and strained relationships, he must navigate both the challenges of the city and his own personal struggles.
