Derek and Kimberly Negron, dedicated educators from Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS), are bringing their passion to The Light Preparatory Academy in Miami Gardens, FL. With experience in Florida’s largest—and the nation’s fourth-largest—school district, their background in public education richly informs their approach.

Derek’s turnaround strategies, honed within M-DCPS, now drive the school’s data-informed focus on individual student growth. Kimberly’s curriculum expertise emphasizes hands-on learning and the development of independence—core pillars of her vision for early childhood education.

After years of witnessing families and students’ challenges in traditional school systems, the Negrons felt called to create something more personal and intentional.
