MIAMI-DADE – On April 10th, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 3, Keon Hardemon, will host the grand opening of Serenity at Liberty Square Phase Four. This event marks the fourth phase of the transformational and inclusive redevelopment of the historic 9-block, 57-acre Liberty Square public housing community, located in the Liberty City neighborhood. U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner will also be in attendance.

Serenity at Liberty Square Phase Four is a mixed-income development featuring 193 state-of-the-art units for extremely low-, low-, and moderate-income families. Among these, 27 are designated as public housing units, and 50 are project-based voucher units. The remaining units are classified as affordable and workforce housing, serving households earning up to 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

This phase also introduces a mixed-use component to Liberty Square. The Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, which was founded in Liberty City in 1974, will establish its first permanent headquarters within the community. Additionally, recognizing the importance of accessible healthcare, the Jessie Trice Community Health Center will open a facility to provide essential medical services to residents and the surrounding community.

The development of Serenity at Liberty Square Phase Four was made possible through federal, state, local, and private funding sources. Miami-Dade County contributed $2.1 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for infrastructure improvements and an additional $3 million in Surtax funding to support the expansion of affordable housing.
