When Rachel Robinson opened Luxury Avenue Hair in 2019, she created more than a salon. She built a sanctuary focused on confidence and healing. Months later, the global pandemic tested her purpose and creativity.
“I started doing hair because I loved helping women feel beautiful,” Robinson recalled. “What began as a hobby with friends and family grew into part-time salon work and ultimately, my calling. Over the years, I’ve learned it’s about more than styling hair—it’s about connection and renewal.”
During the South Florida shutdowns, Robinson relied on her relationships and imagination to keep her business afloat. She built on what made her salon unique and launched an online store, offering custom wigs and virtual consultations for clients at home.
“When the pandemic hit, I focused on adapting instead of panicking,” she explained. “Even at home, people still wanted to look and feel good, and I made sure they could do that safely.”
That adaptability paid off as salons reopened. Ready to grow, Robinson hired a team of women who shared her vision of making self-care restorative. “Luxury Avenue stands for quality, care and empowerment,” she noted.
For Robinson, luxury means creating an experience that restores confidence and builds authentic connections. Every detail, from the softness of the hair to the packaging, is designed so clients feel valued and safe. “Luxury Avenue is meant to be a sanctuary—a place where women feel seen and supported,” she added.
This personal approach also informs her latest focus: medical wigs for women coping with hair loss from chemotherapy, alopecia, or stress. “Most medical wigs on the market don’t match our textures or tones,” Robinson explained. “I wanted to change that by creating high-quality, natural-looking pieces that bring comfort, dignity, and a sense of normalcy back to women who deserve it.”
To reach those who need her products most, Robinson is building partnerships with hospitals and nonprofits. “The goal is to ensure doctors, nurses, and support groups can connect women not only to wigs but to renewed strength during their healing process,” she emphasized.
Eighteen years into her career, Robinson defines success as empowering women through beauty, healing, and self-belief. For her, self-care is restorative. “When you look good, you feel good, and that energy shifts everything around you,” she reflected.
