Building stronger businesses through better health

At the Black Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County, we understand that strong businesses require strong, healthy leaders. That belief guided our Ask an Expert Luncheon: Healthy Body, Healthy Business held on Sept. 11 at Keiser University’s West Palm Beach campus. With the generous support of our event partner, the City of West Palm Beach, we brought together an outstanding panel of medical professionals to share strategies for balancing health and business success.

Among our distinguished panelists, we are proud to spotlight Dr. Oral Waldo, a cardiologist with Palm Beach Health Network. Dr. Waldo’s expertise and passion for preventive care set the tone for the discussion, reminding participants that cardiovascular health is essential not only for longevity but also for the stamina required to lead, innovate and grow thriving enterprises. His guidance on stress management, regular screenings and lifestyle habits resonated deeply with the business professionals in attendance.

The program, moderated by Dr. Joseph Taylor, chiropractor and founder of Renewed Wellness, also featured leading voices in medicine: Dr. Monique Barbour, ophthalmologist and CEO of Clear Vue Eye Center; Dr. J. Sheree, FNP and CEO of Evolve Total Health; and Dr. Avis Brown, APRN, DNP, owner of 3BBB Wellness. Each offered unique perspectives on how to align wellness with leadership—whether through eye health, holistic care, or managing chronic conditions.

Together, these leaders made one truth clear: wellness is not a luxury; it is a foundation for productivity and sustainability. They spoke candidly about health disparities in the Black community and the importance of representation in healthcare. Their presence reinforced the value of diverse professionals who not only treat patients but also inspire future generations.

On behalf of the Black Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County, we extend our gratitude to our speakers, our venue host, Keiser University, and our partner, the City of West Palm Beach, for helping make this program possible. And to the Top Black Healthcare Professionals honored this year, we salute your unwavering commitment to both medicine and community. Your leadership affirms that a healthy body truly supports a healthy business—and a healthier future for us all.
