Nationwide — Laila Edwards is set to make history after earning a spot on Team USA’s women’s ice hockey roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. She will become the first Black woman to represent the United States in women’s ice hockey at the Olympic Games.
Edwards, 21, is a senior at the University of Wisconsin and was named to the 23-player roster for the Milano Cortina Games, scheduled from February 6 to February 22. According to Black Enterprise, Team USA announced the lineup on Friday, January 2, confirming her place in the historic group.
